HLCCA Bylaws Committee

To all HLCCA members,
I am pleased to announce that the HLCCA has created a Bylaws Committee, the purpose of which is to make recommendations on changes to the current Bylaws which will be delivered to the HLCCA Board and Officers for approval and in turn will be presented to the Membership for ratification. The Committee consists of Chairman, Dave Talbott from Silver Spring, Maryland, Wendy MacLeod from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Greg Crocker from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lyn Scott Bordo from Greenwood, West Virginia and Tina Weitkamp from Fort Thomas, Kentucky. I will serve as the liaison between the Committee and the Board.

At this time, the Committee is seeking your input into recommendations for changes to the Bylaws to create a set of Amended and Restated Bylaws that can support our rapidly growing organization, now and in the future. The current Bylaws can be found on the HLCCA web-page under the Publications button. You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “click here” (see links below). The Bylaws currently in effect were adopted in 2001 and a few sections were amended in 2007. The HLCCA currently uses a compilation of the 2001 and 2007 bylaws to operate.

The Board and Officers of HLCCA want this to be an open and transparent process where all members are given the opportunity to be heard. If you have recommendations, suggestions or topics for discussion by the Bylaws Committee, please submit them by October 31, 2014, to Bylaws.Committee@verizon.net.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Jeff Kolodey
Vice President, HLCCA

Lemongrass, Chocolate and Ivory

What's your favorite three-color combination?
Still a favorite Fiesta® combo: Lemongrass, Chocolate and Ivory.

Ivory and Chocolate Fiesta® were introduced by
The Homer Laughlin China Company in 2008
with Lemongrass Fiesta® following next in 2009.
Lemongrass and Ivory are still in production
but Chocolate was a limited-item run and was discontinued in 2012.
When introduced, Chocolate was suggested to
coordinate with Ivory, Cobalt, Peacock, and Turquoise.
An alternate spicy blend was with Tangerine, Sunflower and Shamrock.

What's your favorite combination with Chocolate?

The History: Keeping the Integrity in the Design.
Red, Green and Blue Stripe Fiesta® dinnerware is a thing of myth and legend among the Fiesta® collecting community. The February 1936 The Pottery, Brass and Glass Salesman trade publication mentions the availability of new decorations on ivory, including bands of red, green and blue, as a follow-up to the overwhelmingly successful launch of the Fiesta® colorware.

Production of the vintage striped items seem to have been produced for one year, leaving very few pieces to meet the high demand among modern collectors. Celebrating this line, the HLCCA teaming with The Homer Laughlin China Company launched its exclusive decoration Retro Red Stripe on Post-86 ivory at the 2009 Pittsburgh Conference. The Retro Stripes (Red, Green, Blue) decoration, on the HLCCA drafting table since 2007, has generated a whole renaissance of the much beloved treatment in striped treatments on a variety of Homer Laughlin Fiesta® shapes.
