Browsing on Facebook recently, we came across this Wikipedia post for the
Homer Laughlin Building in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Built by Homer Laughlin in 1896--having sold the Homer Laughlin China Company by that time to the Wells and Aaron families--the building is still in use today, and is home to the Grand Central Market. Homer Laughlin (along with his son, Homer, Jr.) made something of a name for himself in Los Angeles real estate in the early 20th century, including a movie theatre in Long Beach and a gated subdivision (
Laughlin Park) in Los Feliz.
