Poll for 2012 HLCCA Conference Location
At yesterday's business meeting, the top 2 locations for the 2012 HLCCA Conference were Seattle and Kansas City (in that order). For those of you who plan to attend in 2012 and were not at this year's conference, we've added a poll for the 4 "contender" locations: Atlanta, Kansas City, San Antonio and Seattle. The polls will be open until at least mid-September 2009.
Help us to to select the conference location that you would most like to visit!

What's Red & White...
...& striped all over? This year's conference exclusive giveaway pieces were a 10" dinner plate, tea cup and saucer in Ivory with Scarlet stripes. The table centerpieces featured a 10" vase and a Tom & Jerry mug in the same red-stripe pattern.
All of these pieces were inspired by HLC's vintage red stripe wares--and more will be available soon on the HLCCA website.
Scarlet Presents "The History of Red Stripe"
Richard Mayberry's alter ego, Scarlet (or is it the way around?) presented an entertaining and informative history of red stripe wares at tonight's banquet. All of this was a prelude to the announcement of this year's Conference exclusive giveaway: a 3-piece Fiesta placesetting in Ivory with an HLCCA-exclusive red stripe decal!
1941 HLCCA Fiesta Juice Pitcher Revealed!!!
At tonight's banquet, the HLCCA Board revealed the lastest in the 1940s series of exclusive Fiesta juice pitchers. This year's pitcher celebrates the year 1941 with Urban Jazz Culture on Lemongrass.
The new HLCCA pitcher is expected to available for sale to HLCCA members in time for holiday gift-giving.

Dishstock: 3 Hours of Peace, Love & Dishes
HLCCA Conference attendees had a groovy evening recalling the events and fashions of 1969 at tonight's Thursday night mixer.
Special thanks go out to Kathy Holley and Saarin Schwartz for a truly far-out job of coordinating this year's mixer. Thanks also to all of the generous volunteers who helped with set-up, games and clean-up.
See the HLCCA Facebook page for more cool photos, man!

Rest in Peace, Cinda Gambill
It is with great sadness that we share with you the news that our good friend Cinda Gambill has passed away. Cinda was one of the original officers of the HLCCA, and was instrumental in getting the club off the ground. She was also one of the original "hat ladies" and will be remembered and missed by her many friends. She was a warm and wonderful woman who loved her family, her friends, her animals, and her dishes. We will miss you, Cinda.
The funeral will be Monday, July 6th, and Cinda's final resting place will be in a beautiful, wooded spot in her home state of Indiana. We encourage you to leave comments, or share your memories of Cinda here. We will collect them and send them to her family.

Russel Wright Flies into SFO
We saw this post on the Bauer Pottery Company website and thought that HLCCA members--being connoisseurs of all American pottery--might be interested. Check it out:
If you are a fan of Russel Wright and happen to be flying into or out of San Francisco International Airport before the end of October of this year, be sure to stop in to Terminal 3. There you will be able to enjoy “Wright at Home: Modern Lifestyle Design 1930–1965,” an exhibit by the San Francisco Airport Museum.
The exhibit focuses on Wright’s dinnerware and includes vintage Steubenville Pottery versions of the American Modern line which we are now reproducing.
The exhibit is located beyond security check points, for ticketed passengers only, so contact McKinley Williams at (510) 261-4347 or mckinley@collectmodern.com to schedule a tour or for additional information.
