The Lansing (MI) State Journal reports that the model for the iconic "Rosie the Riveter" poster Geraldine Doyle has passed away at the age of 86. This image was the inspiration for this year's exclusive HLCCA Fiesta juice pitcher, commemorating the year 1942. Thanks go to Holly Wolf for alerting us to Geraldine's passing.

Introducing the Fiesta Soup Tureen!
The current issue of The Dish provides a sneak preview of the Fiesta soup tureen set in MARIGOLD. The 4-piece set includes the tureen, lid, underplate and ladle. The underplate has an embossed 75th anniversary Fiesta design and the stainless steel ladle has a ceramic handle. The production run of this set will be limited 10,000 individually-numbered pieces, only in MARIGOLD. We love the vintage look of the handles on the tureen and the finial on the lid.
The "official" announcement of the soup tureen set will be made at the International Housewares Show in Chicago, IL in March 2011. At the same time, MARIGOLD will be announced as the new Fiesta color for 2011.
We gratefully thank HLC for allowing us to share these photos and information with you a little bit early. Now, go make some room to display this fabulous set in your china cabinet!

Under the Big Top! |
As in past years, HLC is having a food drive for a local food bank during the sale. You're encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item with you to the sale, or you may make a cash donation. Also, as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, HLC will be selling a $5 chance to be the first shopper into the tent each day of the sale. Winners will have 10 minutes to shop before others are admitted to the tent. Only one winner per day, but tickets are good for all 3 days of the sale. The drawing will be at 7:00 AM, and tickets will go on sale at 6:30 AM each day of the sale.
